My initial image of "Cosmogony" used for the book is a sequence of nine boxes showing the chronological process of each new god appearing (which i've shared here in the process sketches). But unfortunately when we tried to present the art in moving parallax with the separate boxes we ran into a confusing and distracting view of the layers. So, this single image was created near the end of building this website as a more straightforward way to present the primordial gods. I essentially created a single image from the final stage of the nine-image sequence.
I'm happy with the way the colors came out. I think it has a dreamy and magical quality to it that I try to infuse into a lot of my art. I want the viewer to always feel some emotion of charm or enchantment, something to remind us that our life and existence holds magic and wonder. I don't always succeed, but it's my goal.
