Aphrodite, Goddess of Love

65e3609f2c3b5423444de987

I wanted Aphrodite's image to feel very calm and inviting, as she reclines amongst cool waters living her best life. I placed her in a shallow pool as a nod to her sea birth roots. As a goddess of lust and love, it was only right that she shows a little leg and evokes some seduction aspects, in moderate taste of course. I have to admit that creating pin-up style beautiful women images is one of my weak points as an artist, so this was a fun challenge. It seems I'm much better at creating terrifying creatures.

I, Aphrodite, am the goddess of love, pleasure, and desire, and am born from Uranus's severed male member and sea spray after it is cast down into the sea by his son, the Titan Kronos. Upon my waist sits my golden fabric girdle belt, crafted by my husband Hephaestos, which invokes lust in gods and mortals alike. My birth from the sea foam connects me deeply to the ocean and I am often depicted with sea-related imagery, such as sea creatures and a scallop shell, as well as the myrtle tree, which is sacred to me.
