Stirring Performance

This image was a challenge as I needed it to convey the throne room of Hades and Persephone, but still contain the Tartarus, fury, and tortured mortals in the background. I went with a natural cave formation, but if I could redo this image I would spend more time making the throne room feel more grand and regal with epic architectural flourishes. As an artist, it's always important to think about ways in which your past works could have been better and try to use these lessons in future works.

After passing over the river Styx, and lulling Cerberus to sleep with my Lyre, I, Orpheus, make my way into the castle, and gloomy throne room of Lord Hades and Queen Persephone. I tell them of my mission to bring back my love, Eurydice. Impressed with my fortitude, they allow me to perform my most passionate song of melancholy. My song stirs the souls of all who hear, including the mortals being punished in lower Tartarus. Even the vengeful Furies stop their punishments to shed a tear at my mournful song. My love, Eurydice’s spirit appears, and the rulers relent. They will give us a chance.
