Clash of the Titans

As a child who grew up watching the film "Clash of the Titans," I was excited to create this image. After reading the passages from Hesiod regarding the battle, the language focused on this primordial and cataclysmic conflict, which echoed the tectonic shifting and chaotic weather of the earth's formation. While some artists might have portrayed comic book style hand-to-hand combat between Gods and Titans, I chose to emphasize the symbolism of natural elements like the lightning bolt, the erupting volcano, and the heaving seas.

Freed from our bonds, I, Zeus, and my divine siblings release the Cyclopes and Hecatonchires from Tartarus, gaining powerful allies in our war against Kronos and the Titans. The Cyclopes craft wondrous weapons for us, including my thunderbolt, Poseidon's trident, and Hades' helm of darkness, and not all Titans oppose us; Themis and Prometheus join our cause. As the war reaches its peak, the earth, seas, and heavens shake with the ferocity of battle, but finally, the Hecatonchires hurl three hundred boulders, defeating the Titans and imprisoning them in Tartarus. Following the war, we divide the realms among us, with myself ruling the heavens, Poseidon the seas, and Hades the underworld, establishing our new reign as the glorious Olympians!
