As a companion piece to his twin sister Artemis, I chose to mirror their poses to create a symmetry to the pair of prints. In contrast to Artemis's cooler moonlit scene, here I wanted to emphasize the warm tones with his associations with the sun. This was a pivotal piece for me in the early stages of this project as it was one of the first where I integrated the color sketch into my step-by-step process. This made a world of difference in my ability to push the image in the direction I want in intuitive stages, making sure I'm happy with each stage along the way before moving forward. Like Demeter and the cult of Eleusis, I find Apollo's role in the Oracle of Delphi fascinating and chose to highlight that aspect of his myth in my portrayal.
