I had a blast designing the rolling waves of this tempestuous sea. I also explored different compositions, finally choosing one where we see the king and soldiers throwing the chest into the sea, and then also illustrating again the chest and the victims as they struggle to stay afloat. I think images like this are fascinating, as they are starting to incorporate more sequential narrative style storytelling within the illustration. In the parallax art I also placed the top chest on a higher layer so when you move the mouse cursor it moves more dramatically in relation to other background layers, to emphasize that tossed action.

After my miraculous conception from the golden rain of Zeus, my mother Danae gave birth to me, Perseus. Her father King Acrisios, not believing her story, places us into a chest and cruelly casts us into the sea. Through the will of Zeus, we safely arrive upon the shore of Seriphos. There we are rescued by a fisherman, Diktys, who raises me as his own son to young adulthood.
