I'm really proud of this image, as it gives a lot of emphasis to Athena's Aegis and the source of this weapon. This is not something I've seen illustrated much at all, if ever, and I'm always excited to portray such pivotal events that other arts have neglected in the past. I wanted this scene to feel mystical and sacred, so I brought in some moonlight for color contrast, and warm incense smoke to add to the ethereal tone of the scene. I chose to have a spirit version of Athena taking the head to show the process of accepting it and then placing it upon her armor.
